VEM BESTÄMMER ÖVER NÅGOT SOM TILLHÖR ALLA?
Skogsindustrin, pappersmassaindustrin, skogspolitiken och stora delar av skogsforskarvärlden är rutten. Vad var sant för Cementa-fallet är även sant här: Staten och kapitalet sitter i samma trädkoja. Deras främsta mål är att krama maximal profit ur skogen, och att på olika sätt legitimera detta.
Vi i TCA vill stoppa detta. Men vi vill mer än så. Vi ställer oss emot ett ekonomiskt system där skogen eller någon annan naturresurs kan ägas och exploateras av ett fåtal för att tjäna pengar. Vi vänder oss emot ett samhälle där ekonomisk vinning alltid är det största och viktigaste goda, till och med på bekostnad av vår möjlighet att överleva som art.
Vi vill se ett samhälle som präglas av solidaritet. Där vi alla gemensamt och under tydlig demokratisk kontroll äger det som faktiskt tillhör oss alla, planeten vi bor på.
HUR GÖR VI DETTA?
Som vårt nätverks namn föreslår stannar inte vi vid opinionsarbete; vi går till handling. Vi vill attackera just den industrin som driver efterfrågan på billig trämassa från kalhyggen: pappersmassaindustrin. Och vi vill göra det med hjälp av den massaktioner.
Vi tror inte på att vädja till makthavares välvilja eller rationallitet. Vi inser att om något ska bli gjort så måste vi göra det själva.
Och vi vill göra det tillsammans med dig! Vi tror att vi, för att kunna nå vårt mål och få till de förändringar på samhällsnivå som krävs, måste jobba tillsammans underifrån. Som en massa! Genom att känna vår kollektiva styrka under aktioner och möta likasinnade under ett par dagar skapar vi erfarenheter, bygger relationer och stärker vårt självförtroende. Detta tar vi med oss detta i vårt fortsatta arbete.
Den svenska staten och skogsindustrin må se ut som en gigantisk ostappbar koloss, men den består bara av människor, och den kan stoppas, tvingas ändra riktining och slutgiltligen bytas ut mot något annat!

The forest nation, part 11
WHO DECIDES OVER SOMETHING THAT BELONGS TO EVERYONE?
The forest industry, the pulp industry, forest policy and large parts of the world of forest scientists are all rotten to their core. What was true for the Cementa case is also true here: State and capital sit in the same treehouse. Their main goal is to squeeze maximum profit out of the forest, and to legitimize this in various ways.
We in the climate network Take Concrete Action want to stop this. But we want more than that. We oppose an economic system where the forest or any other natural resource can be owned and exploited by a few to make money. We are turning against a society where financial gain is always the greatest and most important good, even at the expense of our ability to survive as a species.
We want to see a society characterized by solidarity. Where we all jointly and under clear democratic control own what actually belongs to us all, the planet we live on.
HOW DO WE DO THIS?
As the name of our network suggests, we don’t stop at raising awareness; we take action. We want to attack the very industry that drives the demand for cheap wood pulp from clearcutting: the pulp industry. And we want to do it with the help of mass actions.
We do not believe in appealing to the benevolence or rationality of those in power. We realize that if something is to be done, we must do it ourselves.
And we want to do it together with you! We believe that, in order to reach our goal and bring about the necessary changes at the societal level, we must work together from below. Like, a lot! By feeling our collective strength during actions and meeting like-minded people for a couple of days, we create experiences, build relationships and strengthen our political confidence.
The Swedish state and the forest industry may look like a giant unstoppable colossus, but it is only made up of people, and it can be stopped, forced to change direction and ultimately replaced with something else!
